Microsoft has just released a new Windows 10 cumulative update for April 2018 Update (version 1803), and the changelog, which you can find in full at the end of the article, is absolutely impressive.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB4458469 increases the OS build number to 17134.320, and it comes with all kinds of improvements aimed at both home users and enterprises.

For example, this update corrects issues with fingerprint sensors that were upgraded from Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, with Microsoft explaining that some of these devices no longer worked on April 2018 Update.

At the same time, the company adds that cumulative update KB4458469 resolves boot issues on some systems that needed as much as 60 seconds to start. “This occurs on systems that don’t have a smart card reader installed,” it says.

No known issues this time

There are also fixes for Windows 10 S – this a special mode of Windows 10 (later renamed to Windows 10 with S Mode) that restricts the system to Microsoft Store apps and blocks the installation of Win32 software. The Redmond-based tech giant explains:

“Addresses an issue that prevents customers from logging in to a Windows 10S device with a PIN after upgrading to Windows 10, version 1803. Customers see the error “Your PIN is no longer available due to a change to the security settings on this device.”

For developers, this cumulative update fixes a problem that prevented debugging of minimized UWP applications, while for all users it comes with refinements for Centennial apps that didn’t display toast notifications.

All in all, this is quite a major cumulative update for Windows 10 users, and you should install it as soon as possible, especially if you’ve hit any of the issues mentioned in the changelog.

There are no known issues in this cumulative update, and this can only be good news, so you are supposed to install it flawlessly.
